Inclination

So far, we've only been considering two dimensions and looking the orbital plane from the top down. Now let's add a three-dimensional perspective.

The plane itself may be tilted relative to some reference plane (say the orbital plane of another body or the equator of the Sun). This is called the inclination (i).
