Mark Haddon

author · 2/10 picks in the top 100

"I have a terrible memory and when I reread novels they have always changed in our mutual absence (is that not one of the qualities of a really good novel?). I am also increasingly allergic to anything approaching the ideas of a canon. Reading for me is nearly always about looking forward in expectation as opposed to looking backwards in at attempt to catalogue and evaluate. So with two notable exceptions (because I reread both of them every so often) this is simply a list of novels which I have hugely enjoyed read recently."
